February 3, 2011

Well they are saying we hit a 45 year low this morning.   When we headed for the pasture it was -22.  By the time we finished it had dropped to -24 and then a light breeze came up.   With multiple layers of everything I stayed toasty warm, although I did look a bit like an eskimo.   As the new picture just posted shows, fashion is not a high priority when trying to keep from freezing.  Besides suggesting getting the right equipment in such circumstances, rule number 1 has to be go to the rest room prior to gearing up.

Nieve and Wheeler were having problems with snow in their feet.  Nieve figured the remedy out first.  She laid on her back, their coats cover from shoulder to rump so she wasn't laying on snow, and then she stuck her feet in the air sunning them.

The alpacas had races most of the day.  I'm not sure they even noticed the cold.

The next thing to deal with is the frozen pipes in the guest house.....Yippee!
