Fires nearby, but it has been put out

We certainly still need rain.  Three nights ago we had 7 minutes of real rain.  Last night we had sprinkles.  But we continue to be so dry. Two nights ago there was a fire near us, but not on our mountain.  It burned 30 acres, but those ever ready firefighters got it put out.  No buildings were lost.

Almost every afternoon we get cloud cover and thunder.  It is the lightning that causes the fires.  We just are not getting measurable rain. Perhaps more troubling is the community to our north is drawing sand into their water pumps as the water table is so low. So many people seem to be in similar situations.  It is frightening.
